The purpose of the Advanced Training Course in “Speech Therapy Management of Communication Neurological Disorders in Adults” is to provide specific skills for speech therapists to manage assessment and rehabilitation of communication disorders in adult neurological patients, in a teamwork context. Communication disorders secondary to a neurological disease, be it acute or degenerative, focal or diffuse, often depend strictly on the integrity of various functions: phonatory, articulatory, prosodic, linguistic, gestural, pragmatic, cognitive.
The course aims to address these areas of speech therapy assessment and intervention in a systematic and integrated way, emphasizing the specificities of the clinical population in question and the evidence-based clinical approach. Due to the complexity of the topic, communication disorders of an aphasic nature will not be explored in this course.
