ASSEGNATA / ASSIGNED
POST-DOCTORAL POSITION FOR NEUROBIOLOGIST INVOLVED IN AD RESEARCH
NEED Institute is looking for a motivated
and dedicated neuroscientist to cover the position
of researcher in the Laboratory of Neurobiology
in Translational Medicine.
Background and Context
NEED Institute (NI) is an Italian research foundation focused on preclinical and clinical research in neuroscience. It is based in Milan and has a strong collaboration with CCP neurological hospital (www.ccppdezza.it) and other Research Centers involved in neuroscience. The tight collaboration between basic science researchers and clinicians gives an extraordinary potential allowing to study neurological pathologies from a broader point of view. The CCP Research Laboratory is equipped with cell biology facility including a brand-new fluorescent microscopy and has at its disposal a Biobank that collects biological material from various types of neurological patients.

Position offered
POST-DOCTORAL POSITION FOR 3 YEARS
Specific Duties and Responsibilities of the post
The post holder will be expected to work full time on the subjects of interest of the laboratory publishing high-quality research papers in peer-reviewed international journals.
He/She will work in NI – CCP Research Laboratory and will be active in collaboration with other research centers. He/She is required to show a minimal but concrete basic knowledge to work in a neuroscience laboratory. A previous experience/fellowship in neuroscience is a pre-requisite.
The post holder is required to be familiar with laboratory techniques like western blotting, primary and immortalized cell culture, cell transfections, fluorescence microscopy. Moreover, he/she will be required to learn novel techniques, like iPS culture, NGSequencing etc, through external collaborations chosen by NEED Institute.
Research Project
The post holder will be introduced in multiple projects, but specifically he/she will work on the identification of biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and on their involvement in the specific pathogenetic mechanisms of the disease.
CPP neurological hospital has a running biobank which includes collected samples (blood, DNA, PBMC) of AD patients. The research project is focused to analyze these samples, isolating exosomes, preparing PBMC and iPS culture, etc., in order to identify several pathological biomarkers spanning from synaptic to post-translational modification proteins. Final goal of the project is to better characterize AD patients from a molecular prospective as well as from a clinical point of view and possibly to identify potential pathology biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
